Non-Native Species

Many unusual plants have been brought to the Gardens over the decades and survive as mature specimens. An African Sausage Tree, Kigelia pinnata, provides a shady oasis at the far edge of the Meadow.

Several Calabash Trees, Crescentia cujete, producing a large woody fruit that inspires the species common name, can be found near Cypress Hall, Splash ‘n Play, and the Terrace ramp.
