Immerse yourself in movement and melody at Dance in the Gardens. This season features two distinct evenings of world-class dance under the stars in the historic Banyan Bowl amphitheater, nestled beneath a geodesic dome and surrounded by the lush tropical beauty of Pinecrest Gardens. These performances are uniquely choreographed for the Banyan Bowl stage, taking dance out of the traditional black box and proscenium theater and into an outdoor setting where nature becomes part of the performance.

Zest Collective makes its premiere with Roots in Jazz: Icons in Motion at the Banyan Bowl with an evening of dance honoring the enduring legacy of jazz and the iconic Black artists who shaped American music in the 20th century.

Presented during Black History Month, this program celebrates the rhythms, voices, and stories that continue to inspire across generations. The performance features works inspired by legendary musicians whose artistry defined eras and transcended boundaries. The Loveliness of You pays tribute to Josephine Baker, the world premiere of What a Difference a Day Makes honors Dinah Washington, the “Queen of the Blues,” and Straighten Up and Fly Right celebrates Nat King Cole’s wit and swing, while Afro Blue evokes the transatlantic rhythms of Abbey Lincoln and Mongo Santamaría, uniting African American jazz and Afro-Cuban percussion.
