Two jazz worlds collide on November 7 as "The Glamour Girl of Jazz" Allyson Briggs joins forces with celebrated Big Band leader Dan Gabel and his orchestra for a stunning evening of classic jazz, Great American Songbook standards, and golden-era glamour. Hailed by Michael Feinstein as "one of the most incredible talents out there today," Briggs brings her uniquely sweet tone as Fluer Seule and multilingual star power to the Banyan Bowl stage, backed by a world-class orchestra that the Boston Globe calls "the real deal."

About Allyson Briggs

Since her explosion onto the New York jazz scene over a decade ago, she has become one of the most sought-after vocalists and bandleaders today. Fluent in Spanish, German, and French, Briggs performs in as many as seven languages, bringing an unprecedented variety of classic repertoire to the stage. She has collaborated with Michael Feinstein, Ciara Renée, and Catherine Russell, and opened for Lionel Richie and Paris Hilton, gracing the stages of Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Birdland Jazz Club.

Her latest album, “Promises, Prayers, and Raindrops: Allyson Briggs Sings Burt Bacharach”, topped the jazz charts in 2024. She is a five-time Cabaret Artist of the Year nominee (BroadwayWorld 2024), Female Entertainer of the Year Award winner (Taino Nation 2022), and has appeared on Telemundo, Univision, and PIX 11 News.

 

About Dan Gabel

Trombonist, arranger, historian, and educator Dan Gabel has devoted his career to keeping the Big Band tradition alive and swinging. He serves as President and CEO of the American Big Band Preservation Society and teaches Jazz History and directs Big Band ensembles at Westfield State University. A passionate champion of jazz education, he has presented lectures at Harvard, MIT, and Indiana University and founded the Worcester Youth Jazz Orchestra to nurture the next generation of jazz musicians.
