Wings, scales & wonder: pinecrest’s legacy of living attractions

Exhibition Opening & Plaque Rededication: Saturday, January 16, 5:30 PM
On View: Sunday, January 17 to Sunday, May 30

This exhibition celebrates the rich history of Parrot Jungle and the family whose vision and dedication made it a beloved South Florida destination.

Through a curated collection of historical photographs, memorabilia, and newly commissioned portraits, visitors will gain insight into the legacy of the founding family and the cultural impact of Parrot Jungle over generations.

Produced in collaboration with descendants of the original founders, the exhibition will include personal stories, family recollections, and rare artifacts—some never before seen by the public.

A professional photographer will document current family members in a series of portraits and Village of Pinecrest will record oral history videos captured during the fall and winter of 2025.

These stories will serve as a living archive, preserving and honoring the enduring legacy of a place that helped shape the region’s identity and inspired wonder in visitors for decades.
