About Cécile McLorin Salvant
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Salvant’s journey in music began with classical piano at age 5 and evolved into a deep study of jazz and baroque music in France. After winning the prestigious Thelonious Monk competition in 2010, she skyrocketed to international acclaim, earning multiple Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Vocal Album (The Window, Dreams and Daggers, For One to Love) and widespread recognition for her distinctive artistry.
Salvant’s latest works, including Mélusine (2023) and the ambitious Ogresse project, showcase her fearless exploration of genre-blending compositions, storytelling, and visual artistry. Her music weaves themes of power dynamics, diaspora, history, and humor, creating an immersive experience that transcends jazz tradition.
