Badge Day Scout Programs

Girl Scouts can now complete requirements to earn new badges at Pinecrest Gardens! Select Saturdays throughout the year, Pinecrest Gardens will offer “Badge Days” for Girl Scouts who are working to earn their badges. These programs are designed to accommodate up to 60 scouts on the given date. We are excited to announce that the Outdoor Art Badges are being offered exclusively at Pinecrest Gardens. Guided programs will last roughly 90 minutes, featuring a unique opportunity for scouts to embark on a guided exploration through nature, while learning about art of the natural world. Badge days are $12.00 per scout which covers full access to the Garden’s amenities including petting zoo, Splash 'N Play, playground, and botanical gardens, a reserved area for pre or post picnic and, the badge itself as well as all program materials. Registration is required through our website. Brownie and Junior Badge Experiences are offered on the same date. 

Brownie Outdoor Art Creator Badge
As an artist you can walk outside and see colors, shapes and ideas for things you want to create. Find out how you can make your own art outdoors and have fun doing it! Girls will be given the opportunity to learn the role that art plays in nature. We will explore the natural art of Pinecrest Gardens on a nature detective walk; design our own botanical themed art and much more. This program meets all requirements for the Outdoor Art Creator Badge.
 
Date: Saturday, October 7, 2017 and Saturday, February 17, 2018
Price: $12.00 per scout (includes cost of badge, activity materials, full access to garden amenities and reservation of picnic areas) 
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm.

Junior Outdoor Art Explorer Badge
This program will help juniors understand the important role that art plays in nature, and how it impacts the lives of people. Let nature be your inspiration as you explore, create and design different kinds of art. In this program, we will play with light, build bird houses, make rainy day music, and much more. This program is featured in conjunction with the brownie Outdoor Art Creator Badge 

Date: Saturday, October 7, 2017 and Saturday, February 17, 2017 
Price: $12.00 per scout (includes cost of badge, activity materials, full access to garden amenities and reservation of picnic areas)
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
                                 
Cadette Outdoor Art Apprentice Badge
In this program, Cadettes will observe and collect things outdoors that drive your artistic inspiration. Art can be found everywhere, especially outdoors! In this program we will seek to understand the science behind art and learn about why art at Pinecrest Gardens is so important. Be prepared to design with nature, discover the relationship between art and the weather, and create a nature playlist and much more! This program will meet all requirements of the Outdoor Art Apprentice Badge.
 
Date: Saturday, January 6, 2018 and Saturday, April 7, 2018 
Price: $12.00 per Scout (includes cost of badge, activity materials, full access to garden amenities and reservation of picnic areas)
Time: 10:00 a.m.


Scouts Overnight Experience
 

Join us at Pinecrest Gardens for an evening full of fun, learning and the gardens after dark! We’re inviting the Girl Scouts to spend the evening with us at Pinecrest Gardens as we explore the gardens after dark and spend the night in our Hibiscus room. After dinner, we will watch a live performance of Annie in the Banyan Bowl, performed by Miami Acting Company. Following the show, sleepover attendees will have a special meet and greet with some of the Annie Cast members. Girls will also in hands on activities, take flashlight tours, and much more! All activities and meals are included in the price of programming. Participants will have dinner, a snack and breakfast. Registration is required through our website, space is limited. Chaperones will be present for the entire event. 

Date: Friday, November 10, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.
Price: $40.00 per scout (includes overnight stay at Pinecrest Gardens, dinner, breakfast and a
snack as well as all materials for activities)
Ages: appropriate for ages 6-14
Times: Check in at 6:30p, check out at 10:00am.  Program begins at 6:30 p.m. breakfast is served at 9:00am. Next day entry to the Garden is permitted with registration. Please be sure to bring all materials to your car before re-entering the garden.

                                                                    Overnight Basics
What to bring: 
    - Comfortable clothes and shoes 
    - Umbrella or raincoat 
    - Flash Light 
    - Pajamas 
    - Toiletries/ personal items 
    - Sleeping bag, blankets and pillow 
    - Water bottles if you would like

• Please DO NOT brings tents, outside food items or any personal valuables.
• The program ends at 9:00 a.m. the next day, but your ticket is good for a full day of exploration. Please be sure to return all of your “sleepover” materials to your car before entering the garden. We will not hold or store any items for you. 

                                                                    Cancellations
Cancellations must be made at least four weeks prior to the event in order to receive a refund; otherwise, refunds will not be issued. 

                                                                Overnight Etiquette
Staff and chaperones will do all that we can to ensure your child’s safety while at Pinecrest Gardens. For the sake of others, children are expected to be cooperative and respectful. Should behavioral difficulties arise; parents, chaperones, or scout leaders will be notified. If problems continue, we reserve the right to dismiss participants from the program.
